nsplit is a bill-splitting service operated by Koostory UG. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we process. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it, in accordance with applicable data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data We Collect

nsplit collects only the minimal data necessary to provide the bill-splitting service:

Project names (chosen by users)
Participant names (chosen by users)
Expense amounts and descriptions
Language preference (stored as a cookie)

We do not collect email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, IP addresses for tracking, or any other personal identifiers. No account or login is required.

Purpose of Data Processing

All data collected is used solely to provide the bill-splitting service — calculating shared expenses and determining settlement amounts between participants. Under GDPR, our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)), as the data is necessary to deliver the service you requested.

Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data from unauthorized access.

Data Retention

Project data is retained until you delete it. You can delete your project at any time using your project link. Once deleted, all associated data (participants, expenses, sponsorships) is permanently removed.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. Your project data is only accessible to anyone who has the unique project link.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access — you can view all project data via your project link
Right to rectification — you can edit participant names, expenses, and project details at any time
Right to erasure — you can delete your entire project and all associated data
Right to data portability — all project data is visible on the project page
Right to restriction of processing — you can delete the project to stop all processing

How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your project and all associated data at any time by clicking the "Delete project" button on your project page. If you have lost your project link and need data deleted, please contact us at the email below.

Cookies

nsplit uses only a single cookie to store your language preference (English or Korean). We do not use any tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party cookies.

Children's Privacy

nsplit is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided data through the service, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
